Back in the early 2000s, a lot of my online friends were attempting and sometimes succeeding at NaNoWriMo. At the time, I was still in school and then later November was a con month, so cosplay prep usually kept me from writing that much. I started in 2009, and unfortunately, most of my online friends have long stopped trying to participate in the month long activity. I miss the friendly competition.

Now that I've got a few normal WriMo's behind me, I can sit down and write a fair amount of words within a fairly short amount of time. This summer, though I missed the first month, I did manage to get my second month of Camp NaNoWriMo done.

Camp NaNo is a regular Nano digest version. Instead of trying to get the set 50,000 words in the month, you set your word number count. If you only want to write 25,000 words, you write that. If you want to do 40,000, you write that. I tried to do 40,000 but I was helping someone else in crafting something in high amounts, so in avoiding that, I was avoiding writing at the same time since I write solely at night. I bumped my word count to 30,000 and in the last ten days of July, managed to catch up and just pass the goal. I ended up writing 2,500 words on average a night from the 21st-31st. I'm rather impressed with myself at doing that.

I was trying to wanting to write a sort of anthology that was all connected by a single character, but as I started with the second story, I had a story/plot revelation, and that second story went longer than the 10,000 words that I had done for the first one.

Based on an art character sketch drawn by a friend, I do want to keep writing it. Sadly, my other hobbies are more pressing right now.
